Ohlone Garden Coming Soon!


We will be setting up an small Ohlone Community Garden in Memory of Vern Mascorro

It is located between Kingsley and Garey on the odd number side of the street.

We will be planting Native medicinal plants, a few vegetables.

We do need some volunteers in the designing, planning, landscaping, and planting stages of the garden, as well as volunteer to help maintain the site. Equipment, plants and seeds will be provided.

21st Annual Ohlone “Big Time” Gathering and Powwow Donation Time!

We are looking for donations for the 21st Annual Ohlone “Big Time” Gathering and Powwow of the Costanoan Rumsen Carmel Tribe. We are a non-profit 5013c, non-gaming, self-supporting California Tribe, which supports itself and the services it provides through fundraisers. All donations are tax deductible.

The Powwow is from April 26th, 27th, 28th at the Tony Cerda Park located at 400 West Grant Ave, Pomona CA.

Donations can be made in several ways:

Program Donations:

Make a Donation and get your name printed on the Contributors thank you Page:

  • $25 Category: (Orpeto Ismen) (Moon)
  • $50 Category: (Tura) (Earth)
  • $100 Category: (Ismen) (Sun)

Have an advertisement in the Powwow Program Book:

  • $500 = half a page in the Program Book
  • $1,000 = a full-page color spread inside the Program Book

Product Assistant Donations

  • Drinks such as water soda, etc., are gladly welcome. We will pick up your donations as long as we have the info – name, address, type of donation, and weight. Or you can drop them off at the tribal office c/o Chief Tony Cerda, who is a longtime resident of the Pomona Area.
  • Food Donations are also welcome – fresh and not expired or in cans/packaged sealed foods. Organic food is preferred in keeping with our healthy lifestyle.

Money goes to the C.R.C.T Tutoring Program –kindergarten -12th grade with Cal Poly Students, our Cultural Activities, Tribal Wellness, and our Veterans Program and the Razoo Campaign.

Our Razoo Campaign is to raise funds for the Tule Boat Revitalization Campaign for America’s Cup Race in San Francisco. We want to launch some of our Ohlone Tule Boats for the Opening Ceremony. See here:

Peace and Dignity Journey Runners

On August 27th, the Peace and Dignity Journey Runners arrived at Tony Cerda Park in Pomona, CA, where they were greeted by members of the Costanoan Rumsen Carmel Tribe (Ohlone).

The runners start simultaneously from both ends of the continent in Chickaloon, Alaska and Tierra del Fuego, Argentina traversing the entire continent by foot from community to community and joining together for a final gathering in Central America, Panama. The 2012 run is dedicated to Water, reminding all who have forgotten that Water is an important resource and a shared resource for all.Here comes the runners!
